Disappointed compared to the promises/price
I bought the ghd Chronos and have been using it for several weeks. I’ve been straightening and curling my hair for over 18 years, and I’ve tried many straighteners across all price ranges. I kept this one thinking it would just take some getting used to compared to my old straighteners. Unfortunately, even after several weeks, the problem remains the same: the plates are too short and the body of the device is too thick (especially because of the outward-curling tips). It’s very difficult to handle sections of hair, especially if you have long, thick hair. To get decent straightening or nice curls, you have to select very thin sections, otherwise the hair sticks out because the plates are so short. As a result, styling takes twice as long, even though the main selling point was speed. The structure around the plates gets extremely hot. I measured the outside temperature with an infrared thermometer, reaching 85 to 92°C. The hair comes out so hot that it’s impossible to touch a strand with your hand without burning yourself; you absolutely have to use a brush to guide the movement. So, does it straighten? Yes, but it takes twice as long because you have to take very small sections since the plates are too short. I would have bought the Chrono Max, but I wanted to curl my hair, and even for curls, it’s the same problem: the length of the plates. I deeply regret my choice ((( it’s not worth the money...
